Strategic Force Bomber Command 1950 - 1968

Guideline

Bomber Command... What images can be generated by these two words! But exactly what image is it? It is more than likely that with both young and old, the image that most readily comes to mind is one of heavily-laden bombers taking to the night skies, en route to targets in Occupied Europe, during World War II. This popular image in the collective mind spans only six years of an organisation that lasted almost thirty-two years! The aim of this book is to give the reader a general outline of what constituted the work of RAF Bomber Command, and with what equipment it had to fulfil this role. The photographs and illustrations have been selected with both the general reader and the scale modeller in mind; all the aircraft featured in the book being available in model kit form at the time of writing.
